CEO  Dan McClendon traveled to Salt Lake City to meet before the Natural  Resources, Agriculture and Environmental Committee in February of 2016.  Mike Peterson, Executive Director of the Utah Rural Electric Association spoke in support of the bill. (The Utah Rural Electric Association was a repeat donor to Mike Noel’s and Carl Albrecht political campaigns.)

In THE RICHFIELD REAPER, Thursday, August 29, 2019, page 9A appeared an article individually signed by Garkane Board members that contained what they claim to be the truth. In that article Dan McClendon said: “… the Board of Directors of Garkane Energy has recently directed management to drop the rotation cycle of capital credits from 30 years to 20 years.”

Garkane Energy administrators and other co-ops were part of the lobbying effort to expand unclaimed capital credits USE.  

Garkane CEO Dan McClendon told us in the summer 2018 Highlights that, “Garkane, along with other electric cooperatives in the state successfully lobbied the legislature a few years ago to expand the opportunities where unclaimed capital credits could be used.”   To embezzle is to appropriate (as property entrusted to one’s care) fraudulently to one’s own use.
